GoodSync Licensing FAQ
Q: How do I find and manage my list of licenses?
A: All licensing is done via GoodSync Account:
* Licenses and devices are kept and maintained in the GoodSync Account.
* If you do not yet have a GoodSync Account, create it free.
* Licenses get into Account when you buy them (same email address as Account) or add them by OrderID.
* Devices (desktop) get into Account when you run the command on the device: "Tools" >> "GoodSync Account Setup" on Windows or "GoodSync" >> "GoodSync Account Setup" on Mac.
* Devices (NAS) get into the Account when you enroll them into the Account on Initial Setup.
* The license is activated on the device (assigned to the device) when you run the command on the device: "Help" >> "Activate."
* GoodSync Account login requires a verified email address for increased security and sending notifications.
* GoodSync Account allows validation of all new devices by One Time Password sent via SMS, email, or generated by an Authenticator app.
* Maintenance of devices includes removing old and unused devices, which would free their licenses.
* GoodSync Storage is requested and maintained in the GoodSync Account.
Q: How many GoodSync licenses do I need?
A: You need one GoodSync license per device, be it a Windows computer, a Mac computer, or a NAS/Linux device.
One purchase gives you 5 licenses that would cover up to 5 devices.
Q: How do I activate a license on a device?
A: Enroll your device (computer) into the GoodSync Account, then select the activate command:
* On Windows: Start GoodSync, select "Tools" >> "GoodSync Account Setup," select "Help" >> "Activate License."
* On macOS: Start GoodSync, select "GoodSync" >> "GoodSync Account Setup," select "Help" >> "Activate License."
* On NAS: In your browser, go to
http://local-nas-ip-addr:11000
and the Initial Setup will enroll your NAS into the Account.
* On Linux: Run
gsync /gs-account-enroll=GoodSyncAcctEmail
then run
gsync /activate
Q: What happens if I need to run GoodSync on more than 5 devices?
A: The first 5 devices are covered by the initial license purchased for GoodSync Account.
Each device above the initial 5 requires one license per device.
Q: How is GoodSync Storage licensed?
A: You need a GoodSync Account to use GoodSync Storage.
You can buy an annual or monthly license for Storage.
A free trial of 10 GB and 100 GB storage is provided for a period not exceeding 30 days.
Q: Can I upgrade my license from ver 10 to ver 11 for free?
A: Login into your GoodSync Account and go to the "License" tab.
If your Account is eligible for a free upgrade, a link will be shown to that effect in the "License" tab.
If you do not have a GoodSync Account, create it and add your existing licenses.
Q: What are the free version limitations?

Q: Do I get a free trial?
A: Yes, we provide a free 30-day trial with full functionality.
Q: Can I still use GoodSync2Go with ver. 12 license?
A: GoodSync2Go Ver 12 requires a special GoodSync2Go license.
You should use it only when you can run the GoodSync executable on a computer, but you cannot install the regular GoodSync on it.
